Hello all you awesome Mass Effect Fans!
This blog will serve as an introduction to my theory that Shepard was actually on or on a component of the Crucible as opposed to the Citadel. This theory attempts to be the foundation for explaining away some of the problems with the literal ending of Mass Effect 3. This is in no way an attempt to disprove or discredit The Indoctrination Theory.
Ok on to the Evidence!
One thing that bothered me about the ending was how the decision chamber looked. If this was supposed to be the back side of the Citadel, then where did all of these structures come from? Take a look at the image below:
The base of the Citadel is flat and smooth. This is a CG scene so drawing out the structures on the Citadel we see in the ending would not have been a problem for the engine.
But from this we get the following:
Smooth and shiny cut outs along the sides, raising platforms for your choices, tubes connected into connectors and a huge whole in the middle where the Crucible's energy flows through.
It's highly improbable that the crucible managed to build these structures in such a small time.
So where did all of this stuff come from?
(Almost) Everything you see in this scene came from the Crucible. Observe the following images.
There is a long object pointing out from the crucible where the prongs that would be just above Shepard's head should be. My theory is that this long object is the base of the decision chamber that Shepard is standing on.
See the enhanced shot above. Notice that the object is round on the left and slimmer and cylindrical towards the right. It is consistent with the way the final room is built.
This shot is just before the crucible makes contact with the Citadel. This doesn't resemble the prongs we see in the next shot and during the scene when Shepard looks up.
The sizes and the pattern of the prongs are different. The platform is likely pushed into the Citadel, which makes the energy transfer possible.
This would explain why we see Human and Geth/Quarian parts in the last scene because it was built by humans, Quarians and or Geth.
Thanks to SS2Dante from BSN for the idea.
